The Department of Ophthalmology at Aretaeio Hospital consists of the ophthalmologists Dr. Christoforos Kouroufexis and Dr. Christos Tryfonides.
According to the rules of ophthalmology, eye measurement and follow-up exams must start since the day we are born. A second measurement and a follow-up exam should be carried out at the age of two and then a third measurement and a follow-up exam at the age of five. After the age of five, measurements and follow-up exams should be done at least once a year.
Some of the operations offered at Aretaeio Hospital are combined eyelid and strabismus surgery, refractive surgeries (nearsightedness, astigmatism and hyperopia) as well as myopia-astigmatism stabilization procedures. Also, the ophthalmology centre of Aretaeio Hospital is the only centre in Cyprus that offers laser cataract surgery.
